Knit Headband

For Christmas I received an adorable knit headband, but I found it stretched out after two uses. What better way to solve my dilemma than to knit another one or two?

Supplies
- size 10 knitting needles
- a skein of yarn
- complimenting yarn 
- yarn needle

Cast 22 stitches onto size ten knitting needles.

Using the basic knit stitch (if you don't know how to knit click here) knit until it is 15 inches long.

Once you have reached fifteen inches you can cast off the stitches. Knit two stitches onto the other needle, then take the back stitch over the front stitch.

Continue casting off the stitches until there is one stitch left. Then cut off a length of yarn and thread the end onto a yarn needle.

Pull the needle and yarn through the loop of the last stitch to keep it    from unraveling. Make sure to pull it tight!

 Sew the two ends of the rectangle to create the band. Only sew an inch and a half from either edge and leave a gap in the middle. This leaves a hole for a pony tail to go through.

Using either the same yarn or an accenting color, cast six stitches onto your needle.

Knit until it is 3 to 3.5 inches long. Then cast off the stitches the same as before. Again making sure to leave a long tail for sewing the ends together.

Wrap the rectangle around the band and sew the ends close. Make sure to flip over the accent band after sewing so the seam is facing inward.

Turn the band right-side out and you're ready to go!
